The delights of insanity.

About the vile cunning of dementia.

A talented abdominal surgeon, writer, composer, and generally an outstanding man, Kirill Semyonovich Simonyan, a schoolmate of A.I. Solzhenitsyn, who was friends with N.M.Amosov, and who almost saved L.D.Landau, died of a heart attack at the age of fifty-nine.

When he woke up after the first attack, he said the phrase that I used in the title of one of my notes, “It’s not scary to die!” He added then: “I just felt a sense of bliss!”

In this article, I confirmed, though without dying, that indeed, in a split second before losing consciousness, you experience such a strange release from all suffering.

And it just occurred to me that senile dementia (Dementia Senilis) is probably also not just a PATHOLOGICAL BREAKDOWN OF PERSONALITY, but even A WELCOME AND PLEASANT PROCESS for old geezers.

I have often heard such remarks from them, in response to my calls to “bother”, to “Irritate” their consciousness, not to let it sink into the warm, chattering slush of thoughtlessness and complete mental extinction:

“What’s wrong with that, exactly?

Yes, that’s right, you live a purely biological, simple, unpretentious life.

I ate delicious food, and I am SATISFIED!

I pooped without effort and pain, and I’m HAPPY!

I had a good night’s sleep, and I’m HAPPY!

SO WHAT’S WRONG WITH THIS CONDITION???”

Such “arguments” have always hurt my ears and soul. I want to die as a REASONABLE PERSON, not as a piece of thoughtless meat.

But WHAT is the basis of these “arguments” that are creepy to me?

Answer: Obviously, something similar to Simonyan’s phrase – I experienced bliss…

This is neurophysiologically explained very easily.

There are two extremely important centers in the brain – the nuclei.

One is the center of SUFFERING, DISPLEASURE.

The other is the center of PLEASURE, ENJOYMENT.

When the first one gets irritated, it’s suffering, and the minimum is a feeling of displeasure.

The irritation of the second is pleasant, blissful, up to the highest degree of pleasure. Some micro-nanodoses of a certain mediator exert out in this center, and stupid living beings perceive this as something passionately pleasant and, of course, desirable, calling for REPETITION.

In Dr. Delgado’s experiments, an unfortunate white mouse with electrodes implanted in this center pressed a pedal FIVE THOUSAND TIMES in one hour, sending a signal to its fooled brain to irritate this center! She forgot about everything, food, and all other biological functions, and was craving for one thing: New paroxysms of pleasure from pressing the pedal!

It just seems creepy to me – the vilest “joke” of nature to make all living beings live and enjoy the bloody sewer called life.

Going back to the old geezers. So, maybe this voluntary self-immersion in the senile dementia JUST IRRITATES the pleasure center and people ENJOY running amok towards the abyss of complete thoughtlessness?

I don’t know, I’ve never experienced this, but just the opposite: I consider it a terrible evil that should be avoided and fought with all the strength of the soul.

If living beings are PREPROGRAMMED to be afraid of death, then this is exactly what death is, because a person is dying, even though the biological shell, «the mortal coil” may still exist for many years.

Truly: A Living Corpse!

“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven”.

My opinion: From a very young age to death, one should continuously “bother and pester” one’s consciousness with all one’s might, not allowing it for a second to fall into this blissful self-drowning in the swamp of thoughtlessness.

If I’m wrong, let my seniors correct me.
