Film review experience.
From familiar old geezers who were young people in the early sixties of the last century, I have repeatedly heard nostalgic memories of the American action movie of those years “The Magnificent Seven” with Yul Brynner, Steve McQueen , Charles Bronson, James Coburn, Eli Wallach, the young Horst Buchholz and all the other “stars”. Of course, as befits the memories of the youth of the bastards, with rapturously sad shades.:
“How brave we used to be…!!!!”
After listening to enough, I succumbed to temptation and watched this wonderful film of courage and the triumph of morality over immorality, good over evil.
There is no need to talk about the ignorant artistic advantages of this nonsense, because they are completely absent.
The plot is simple and understandable even to the defective.
An equestrian gang of criminals periodically visits some Mexican village in order to refuel with food, NO MORE. And desperate hard workers, having suffered from such raids in the style of war communism in the Soviet Union (Surplus!), go to a neighboring town in order to hire a group of specialist shooters to protect them from bandits. Of course, they don’t have the money for such a noble purpose.
And of course, in a couple of days, a group of seven altruistic professionals is immediately recruited, ready to deliberately condemn themselves to death by fighting a gang of fifty guns.
And all this is “FOR NOTHING.” That is, the fake begins with the very first frames and continues throughout the entire movie, full of continuous heroics.
Peasant Mexicans, cowardly scum, first of all hide their young wives and nubile daughters from our seven altruists, because they are afraid that they will immediately begin to use them for a specifically feminine purpose!
Then a very conscientious altruist sternly reproaches his comrades that they are eating (gaining strength for the coming battle), and poor peasant children are dying of hunger right in front of their eyes. And, of course, altruists invite starving (with very rounded and well-fed muzzles) children and give their rations to the unfortunate flowers of life.
Above all these heartwarming scenes hangs the INAUDIBLE but well-felt moan of the Mexican people: We are poor sufferers, we are unhappy, we are hungry and deprived of everything.
As if copied from the deceitful poetry of the crooked Russian “poet” Alphonse N.Nekrasov:
“Where there are people, there is a groan! Oh, my dear!
What does your endless moaning mean?
Will you wake up full of strength?”
Of course, sentries are being set up, fortification ramparts such as the Maginot line are being erected, and everything else.
And suddenly the rustic holiday is coming: A certain number of years of the village’s existence.
And to think, immediately appeared there’s generous and plentiful food, and strength, and money for fireworks, and for costumes for the dansings, and for everything else. And the hungry and the poor indulge in the simple joys of fun, somehow forgetting about their unhappiness, brutal hunger and poverty, as well as the impending danger.
But altruists ARE ON THE ALERT, VIGILANT!
It’s better to OVERDO it than UNDERDO IT!
Another nasty philistine scene.
The same conscientious altruist (played by James Coburn, not sure) takes care of several peasant boys, one of whom dares (the child!) to tell the truth about your parent, that he is a coward. There follows a stormy scene of symbolic slapping on the ass of this truth–loving child by altruist, who inspires them, among the slaps, that his father is a HERO, because he has produced a family and is working for the good of his OWN, flesh of his flesh, children!
Truly, the hero of bed horizons!
Then the intrigue: bandits arrange an ambush and …
Our heroes, who shot almost half of the gang in the previous battle, are being peacefully released. Moreover, pistols, rifles and all ammunition are being returned to them. The nobility of the bandits is touching to the point of tears. And our altruists, instead of weeping at such a display of nobility, fall on the chest of Eli Wallach, the leader of the gang, return and attack the bandit with all their might, harassing thrm at the root.
We’ve been EXHAUSTED, and we’ve won!
And the young Mexican guy (Horst Buchholz), of course, immediately throws away the gun and marries (off-screen) a young peasant woman.
The altruists, who have thinned out after the battle, depart for new romantic exploits.
The end of stinking falsehoods and philistine lies!
Those who wish can watch this masterpiece of cinematography and, if they really feel like it, harshly object to me!
Funeral home ” Heartly Welcome!”
