Researchers at the University of Innsbruck (Austria) conducted an experiment that calls into question one of the fundamental principles of physics – the second law of thermodynamics.
Scientists cooled about 100,000 cesium atoms to a temperature only a few billionths of a degree above absolute zero, and then locked them into thousands of nanotubes, each the size of an atom. As a result, a one-dimensional quantum gas was formed.
When hundreds of laser pulses began to affect this system, according to the laws of classical physics, it should have heated up and become more chaotic. However, instead of an increase in entropy, the opposite happened: the atoms retained their order, stabilized, and began to move almost synchronously – as if they were quantum interconnected.
The effect was called dynamic multiparticle localization and was observed regardless of the strength of the interaction between the atoms.
According to the authors of the study, we are not talking about the “abolition” of thermodynamics, but the discovery provides important hope for the creation of stable quantum computers. Overcoming unwanted heating and loss of coherence is a key problem in the field of quantum technology, and the Austrian experiment may be a step towards solving it.
My comment.
Empty bullshit.
How many millions of euros did this idiotic experiment cost???
And how many of them have pleasantly weighed down the pockets of these crooks?
The Second Principle of Thermodynamics (Entropy (the degree of disorder) of a closed system left to itself. always increases or remains constant for reversible processes) in the form formulated by the epigones of Klausius is initially, a priori, INCORRECT, because it artificially imposes our stupid anthropocentric dogmas on nature:
THERE IS NO ORDER and DISORDER IN NATURE! These are OUR human assessments of certain natural phenomena, our conjectures, our ideas about what is happening.
There is no order or disorder for dead nature, just as there is no “good or bad weather”!
I couldn’t help but think of the Elsa Einstein episode.
When Einstein and his wife visited the famous American astronomical observatory “Mount Palomar”, they were shown the world’s largest telescope with a mirror diameter of, I think, six meters.
Elsa asked the director of the observatory: What is this giant machine for?
The answer was: With its help, we study the structure of the universe!
Elsa had said: Interesting! It’s weird, my husband does the same thing on the cover of an old envelope!
That, of course. The grotesque. Theoretical calculations are one thing, but experimental verification is another.
But…
“There’s nothing more practical than a good theory.”
Common sense often replaces the useless and very time-consuming and expensive fuss under the guise of experiment.
In no way do I encroach on THE NEED FOR EXPERIMENTAL VERIFICATION OF HYPOTHESES!
But most people don’t HAVE the usual COMMON SENSE…
