Our mind may not be in the brain: physicists have put forward a bold hypothesis.

A new theory being discussed by physicists and cognitive scientists claims: Our mind is a quantum hologram created by the interaction of energy waves, and not just the result of the electrical activity of billions of neurons.

Michael Pravica, a professor of physics at the University of Nevada, believes that a person is not a collection of particles, but a “complex interference hologram”, a pattern of intersecting waves of energy. In his view, consciousness arises when these waves resonate and form stable patterns, forming a subjective sense of self.

According to quantum mechanics, every particle of matter has wave properties. This means that our bodies not only emit energy, but also vibrate, creating a complex field that, according to the scientist, can go beyond three-dimensional space. Thus, human consciousness may not be limited to the brain – it is able to extend into hyperspace, connecting us with other people and even with those who have already died.

Another researcher, independent scientist and musician Michael Arnold Bruna, has developed a mathematical model describing the “complexity index” of brain waves, a parameter reflecting the harmony and coherence of vibrations. He suggests that the steady resonances of these waves create a stable sense of identity and awareness.

However, neuroscientists urge caution. Dr. Jennifer Perusini from Neurovation Labs emphasizes that the rhythms and vibrations of the brain are not an alternative to neural activity, but a part of it. “Electric waves and neurons are two sides of the same coin. The first ones help the brain synchronize its work and create a holistic flow of perception,” she explains.

Nevertheless, the new theory has already caused a heated discussion in the scientific community. If consciousness can really be considered as a holographic quantum phenomenon, it can change not only the approach to the treatment of mental disorders and the development of artificial intelligence, but also the very understanding of life, death and what we call the soul.
