We’re racing past The Sign forever
Not loudly sent to us from Heaven.

Homeopathy– the treatment of the like, was founded by Samuel Hahnemann, who proceeded from a completely wrong (in my opinion) idea – to give a person highly diluted substances that, undiluted, cause the same symptoms as a certain disease.
At that time, there were two popular “fashionable” methods of treating ALL diseases: Bloodletting and vomiting, which Hahnemann strongly objected to.
A reflection of Hahnemann’s ideas can be seen in the “Count of Monte Cristo” by A. Dumas. Remember, there is a clear motive for giving small doses of poison, which gradually “accustom” the body to immunity against lethal doses of the same poison.
Therefore, the composition of homeopathic remedies includes quite “unpleasant” poisons, but in absolutely incredible dilutions – one millionth, one billionth, one trillionth.
The strangest thing about this fundamentally wrong idea is that it WORKS!
My first thought, somehow explaining this therapeutic effect, was the assumption that even individual molecules of the therapeutic agent or agents were acting on cells.
To which my good friend, dermatologist, Professor Anatol Krakovsky, objected that even under an electron microscope, the cells did not have any specific sensors for such “perception”.
My idea was as follows:
When we take certain doses of drugs, they produce a massive chemical attack on the body.
It’s a kind of «chemical cannonade».
But cells can also be influenced by a “SOFTLY spoken word.” This is the mechanism of homeopathy.
I had nothing to object to Professor Krakowski then.
And so, the other day, remembering our conversation, it occurred to me that there is another mechanism:
The molecules of homeopathic substances ACT on the organ designated for therapy NOT DIRECTLY, but INDIRECTLY.
How?
They enter the brain with the blood flow. They pass through the blood-cerebrospinal fluid or blood-brain barrier and, once in the cerebrospinal fluid, affect the nuclei of the hypothalamus or the entire hypothalamic-pituitary system. Because the nuclei of the hypothalamus and other structures that control vital functions are very sensitive to various kinds of chemical influences, and at the level of a “softly sent sign.” And once activated, they have a neuro-humoral effect on the desired painful organ or process. It is also possible that the hypothalamus “scans a number of subordinate organs”, checking their condition. And if signals are received about any disorder, the hypothalamus begins to influence them through hormones and enzymes or nerve impulses (what is called neuro-humoral). Sometimes this “administrator” has a weakened sensitivity to pathological signals, sometimes just the cells that are supposed to produce the necessary effect are not active enough. In this case, homeopathic medicines cause the appropriate activation of the necessary cells or whole nuclei, and thus the body’s self-therapy begins.
Acupuncture may work in a similar way.
Summary:
The hypothalamic system constantly monitors the state of its subordinate organs and processes.
Homeopathic substances do NOT act directly on the cells of the diseased organ or on the systems of the pathological process.
They act on extremely sensitive cells of the hypothalamic-pituitary system.
Their effect is not a “deafening chemical scream or a thundering cannonade of conventional chemical shelling,” but a “quiet whisper” to the SENSITIVE membranes of highly specialized cells in the nuclei. The “cannonade” simply stuns the hypersensitive cells and they stop perceiving the “normal” signals they are adapted to. The chemical attack just BLOCKS them.
And “quiet signals” encourage cellular activity.
After the homeopathic substances have activated these nuclei, they already act on the diseased organ or on the pathological process along the neuro-humoral pathways.
So homeopathy operates according to a two-phase scheme:
Activation of hypothalamic nuclei.
Neuro-humoral effects of nuclei on the disease.
This assumption seems to me quite plausible.
