And its visual embodiment in the form of a slowly rotating DNA spiral. In both cases, we are faced with a transition from the main, leading musical theme to the now dominant accompanying one. An accompaniment in low registers becomes the leading one, and a higher key becomes the accompanying one. As in a spiral, one side of it turns towards us, and the other goes into the shadow. There is no “main” side of the DNA helix, and it is also seen (heard) in Bach’s chorale prelude.

It seems that Bach foresaw the discovery of the double helix of DNA and, more than two hundred years before its discovery by Watson and Crick, created its own musical image – model!
