About the growing peculiarities of the behavior of the elderly

Again, it’s all medicine in the notes of a person who doesn’t have the slightest medical education.

On the topic of the growing intelligence of some old people, I have already written a note “The mind is getting sharper, Tanya…”.

“Some” and, unfortunately, VERY FEW, against the background of an almost total immersion in the warm and pleasant swamp of the thoughtlessness of senile dementia.

Now I’m going to talk about another feature: Frequent use of the toilet.

When communicating with old fogeys and harridans (I try to avoid them as much as possible, but it’s not always possible), I noticed that they too often need to “relieve themseves from accumulated fluid.”

Geriatrics explains this in a simple and accessible way:

In men, this is due to the infringement of the overgrown prostate gland of the ureter, which is long and sinuous.

In women, especially those who gave birth, with uterine prolapse and its pressure on the bladder.

In my unprofessional opinion, all of the above may be true, but the main thing is not grasping!

But the main and most important reason is different: In old people, the processes of dissociation, that is, the decay and death of tissues, are dominated by the processes of association, that is, the growth and development of organs.

This gradual breakdown of tissues and organs is due to the fact that many cells die and must be exerted from the body. Like, for example, 3-5 million red blood cells dying every second in our blood. Hemolysis occurs in the liver, that is, the breakdown of their bodies, hemoglobin gradually turns into urobilin (which gives yellow color to urine), and therefore the elderly drink MORE water and use the toilet more often to remove these “waste products”. Or, more precisely, the products of senile decay.

More water is consumed to dilute the decomposition products. It is secreted more by the kidneys.

That’s the main reason, in my opinion, not the geriatrician at all, for the mentioned behavior of old people.

Faciant meliora potentes.

If I’m wrong, let my seniors correct me.

P.S. The average volume of an adult’s bladder is from three hundred to six hundred milliliters: Men 400 – 600 ml, women 300 – 500 ml.

A young healthy person sleeps all night and only wakes up in the morning. He goes to empty the bladder. Old people go to the bathroom three to five times a night. I asked a few people to collect all the liquid overnight in a labeled container. It turned out that EVERYONE’s urine volume reaches 700 – 850 ml per night! So it’s not just and not so much the generally accepted reasons, namely the excessive amount of liquid consumed and secreted!
