I.S. Shklovsky’s comets waving their tails.

In the wake of a thought that arose today, in connection with a sarcastic note about rogue journalists, “Terrible solar flares”

February 8, 2026, which had nothing to do with comets!

And suddenly:

P.S. An idea that suddenly popped into my head:

Since the tail of a comet moving towards or passing by the Sun is THROWN by the radial pressure in the direction opposite to the Sun, it turns out that solar flares SHOULD CAUSE the TAILS of COMETS TO WAG!

A new prediction of theoretical astronomy!

Due to the fact that natural comets do not come to us very often and their flight paths are not subject to us, we can use the beautiful idea of astrophysicist I.S. Shklovsky, who proposed launching artificial comets in the early sixties of the last century. Such a comet can release sodium vapor, which, under the influence of ultraviolet solar radiation, will emit a bright yellow line (the famous doublet of two closely spaced wavelength lines 5890 and 5896 Angstroms). Such a glow can be easily detected by optical telescopes and, possibly, by the naked eye!

By launching probes from Earth, we can choose any trajectory of their flight, closer or further from the Sun and monitor the changes in the shape of their glowing tails. Comets waving their tails depending on various solar flares, moving streams of charged particles, their density, the type of particles they contain, speeds and directions of movement.

We can also use other elements and compounds that give a different spectrum of radiation from red to violet. By the color and intensity of the glow and absorption of the lines, it is also possible to obtain additional information about the nature of the source of their excitation and the distribution of these factors exciting different radiations in the near-solar space.

Even from a purely aesthetic point of view, such a “cosmic fireworks display” would be very attractive, not to mention its high scientific value.

For believers, with the help of many probes, it would be possible to create color images of God and the entire heavenly host in space, “Heavenly Frescoes of the Celestials” by Raphael Santi, Leonardo da Vinci, Lucca Signorelli and Michelangelo Buonarotti.

A kind of “Interplanetary Divine Comedy” by Cosmodante Astrogieri.

Another one will be added to all existing genres of painting: “Celestial painting” or “Astropainting”

Compared to such a “Divine extravaganza,” ordinary fireworks will become cheap bazaar performances of buffoons.

Moreover, such paintings can exist in space. quite a long time.

Science, art and entertainment for both physicists and lyricists.
