Today, while washing the dishes after lunch (a purely automatic activity), I again asked myself a question related to today’s article “Esprit informs you”.

I thought that I had not entered a number of professions, for example, astronomy, and then I asked myself an honest question: What is the reason for my restless involvement in professional topics, which, in theory, should be the subject of the thinking of specialists in them, and not illiterate amateurs, to whom, in the best case, I belong, if not just the ignoramuses?

And I immediately answered myself: Probably because I have a certain SENSE of these topics, their subject and their methods, their approach to solving problems.

The following idea, which I propagandized, immediately flashed across about “grasping the Driving Gear of the phenomenon.” They say that any seemingly “complicated” and incomprehensibly contradictory phenomenon can be easily “figured out” if you catch a certain Driving Gear of this phenomenon. I’ve written about it more than once, and even scribbled a series of notes on this topic.

But, – I objected to myself, – you are often completely confused about the topic, how can you grasp this very gear, even if experts who have been working on this topic for years and decades do not notice the “GEAR”, AND YOU, A KIND OF “SELF-TAUGHT GENIUS”, TOOK IT AND IMMEDIATELY GRABBED IT?

And to answer this very self-critical question, a little thought popped into my head, FUNNY, I must admit!

I probably hear in MY MIND a certain specific sound of THIS VERY ROTATING DRIVING GEAR!

That’s right, FOR the FIRST time in my mind I enter a giant hall in which dozens and hundreds of different machines are working, each of which makes noise in its own way. And among these machines, there are hundreds of specialists in one, two, or a whole group of machines who know them well. In detail, according to the drawings, and according to the instructions, and even, for some, to the sound!

But I, ignoramus, in this hum, suddenly I hear the most Important Sound, a generalizing hum characteristic of all machines, a certain GEAR COMMON TO ALL THESE very different machines and gears. And when you hear the Sound of ITS Rotation, you immediately feel “at ease”!

That’s it, by itself. the answer came to my other question, also to myself: WHAT IS A “FEELING OF SOMETHING”?

Answer: With your mental ear, you can hear this MAIN NOISE, the main GEAR that is most common to all the machines in THIS ROOM! Leading -driving not only in relation to any particular car or transmission, but LEADING IN ALL THE MECHANISMS IN THIS HALL.

This is what has been tormenting me for a long time with the lack of a clear definition of “feeling something”!

I am completely deaf to mathematics. I can’t hear anything but the chaotic and MEANINGLESS noise of hundreds and thousands of different mechanisms. From the sound of a file, something tearing, to the complex and diverse noise of computer-assisted machines and entire automatic assembly lines!

And in other areas, this mental ear perceives and often picks up a certain Chime of the Teeth of the Driving Gear.

This gives the soul a certain a priori trust in this environment, a sense of being “at ease”, there is no sense of alienation from the environment in which I found myself.

This, I repeat, is a WONDERFUL FEELING OF SOMETHING!
