In China, a humanoid robot hit a child during a demonstration.

Footage of an incident involving an anthropomorphic robot that occurred in China has spread online. While performing dance moves, the robot struck a small boy who was among the audience in the face.

It is known that the incident occurred with the G1 model, a popular humanoid robot from Unitree Robotics, weighing 35 kilograms. The video shows how the robot makes sweeping movements with its arms, moving towards the gathered people. At the time of the pirouette, the robot hit the child, hitting him with a “full palm” in the face.

The Sun, which published the video, clarifies that the footage was shot in Shanxi Province, China, during a performance featuring humanoid robots performing dance moves.

My comment:

The Chinese comrades have not read Isaac Asimov and his THREE LAWS OF ROBOTICS!

But in vain!

Even if the impact was accidental, Asimov’s robots did not allow themselves to do this, except in cases where the potential of the First Law was deliberately underestimated by the designers.

  1. A robot cannot harm a human being or allow a human being to be harmed by its inaction.
  2. A robot must obey commands given to it by a human, except in cases where these commands contradict the First Law.
  3. The robot must take care of its own safety, providing that this does not contradict the First and Second Laws. (From the manual of robotics. 56th Edition, 2058)
