Elderly people often hear such words in connection with sharply impaired vision or hearing, for example. In a scientific way: “Descending nerve dystrophy!”
Question: WHY suddenly a nerve (and this is not a single fiber, a long process from a nerve cell called an axon, but a whole bundle of thousands or even millions of such long fibers) “DYSTROPHES”? Why should he suddenly “die” if the blood vessels supply him with oxygen and nutrition???
There should be no “DYSTROPHY”!
And so, literally at that moment, some interesting idea came to mind, which connected several phenomena and factors at once. Seven and five years ago, I published notes on the so-called Schwann cells, of which we have seven times more than neurons in the brain. There are 14 billion, and Schwann cells (also called NEUROGLIA) are 100 billion! The role of these cells, despite their discovery by the German physiologist Schwann a hundred and fifty to one hundred and seventy years ago, has not been established to this day. There are a dozen different hypotheses and versions, but there is no single theory and explanation. However, all these speculations are initially based on the main teleological dogma: Schwann cells are friends of nerve cells and somehow help and cooperate with them. Contrary to this idiotic dogma, which has no scientific basis, I assumed that Schwann cells are NOT friends at all, but axon PARASITES!
Some axons of type “A”, fleshy or myelinated, have “learned” over many millions of years to protect themselves from these harmful parasites by secreting a fat-like substance — myelin, with which axons are “wrapped”, creating a fat barrier between their own body and the body of Schwann cells.
Now let’s make a mental leap to the topic, as if it were unrelated to the previous one.
Cholesterol.
Again, elderly people in particular have an increased content of “bad” cholesterol and pharmaceutical companies immediately jumped on another opportunity to cash in and began to produce whole series of “drugs” that reduce this very cholesterol. Not knowing or shamefully keeping silent that these very anticholesterol drugs can, apparently, DESTROY MYELIN!!!
The substance is fat-like, like cholesterol, the white matter of nerve cells! So the destruction of the natural protection of the axon from Schwann predators occurs. And they, as you know, hunt for the body of the axon and at the first opportunity do not just suck nutritious juices from it, but simply EAT IT, usually wounded or cut off from the maternal nerve cell, filling with themselves (they got drunk, now you can breed in the will!) the “channel” of the former axon in the tissues.
So much for the “NERVE IS DEAD”!
He didn’t die, he was EATEN by parasites – Schwann cells!
I remind you again that I am not a biologist, not a physiologist, not a doctor and not a cytologist!
And the above thoughts are just my hypotheses!
