There is not one, but at least two “optimisms”:
Real (rare) and false optimism (herdish) – common, universal and all-available!
It is not surprising, herd psychology sets herd algorithms of thinking too.
“To live with wolves is to howl like a wolf!”
“Don’t go into someone else’s monastery with your own catechesis.”
“Being defines consciousness.”
The belly-genital, in the broadest sense of the word, CONTENTMENT with this very existence sets herd optimism, while at the same time COMPLETELY DISCOURAGING the holy childish curiosity with its eternal “WHY?”.
There’s no need to “mess around” if:
“LIVING IS GOOOOOOOOOD!
AND LIFE IS GOOOOOOOOD!
And in our «bustle crossing”,
combative, ebullient,
IS EVEN BETTER!”
V. Mayakovskiy
(Even BEFORE committing suicide by shot in his own chest, obviously, from the passion of what a good is life.)
Is your belly full?
OH, MY!
Are the genitals allowed and satisfied?
OH, MY! Absolutely!!!!
Is life wonderful?
BEAUTIFUL!!!!!
That means you’re an OPTIMIST!
I’ve been saying about myself for years that I’m a misanthrope and a gloomy pessimist.
However, probably not quite.
For I am not a whiner who does not obediently give up when meeting fate, but a pugnacious wrestler in all such cases, clearly realizing that I will most likely be defeated in this fight, but at the same time, I fight with all my might, as if I am sure of an inevitable victory.
A “combative gloomy pessimist”?
Or maybe this is REAL, SOBER, CRITICAL OPTIMISM???
Just as patriotism can be of a herd-market kind, so can leavened jingoism, and sound, critical, sober patriotism, which perfectly sees the shortcomings of its state and government and criticizes both for this.
Churchill, an intelligent and sober-minded man, for some reason also insisted that, they say, “I am an optimist!”
But I think this is just for a stupid audience, because his words, especially at the beginning of the Second World War and the “Battle of Britain” on May 13, 1940 and during the war, said just the opposite about him, as a “fighting combative pessimist”:
«I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears and sweat.»
And I, a “combative pessimist”, HAVE SOMETHING to offer the herd optimists on duty:
ASK YOURSELF MORE OFTEN: WHY????????????
