From music to “high” politics.
A nasty song performed by Paul Robeson “Joe Hill” started playing in the morning. I’ve already written
about this alleged fighter for workers’ rights, but in fact a scoundrel and a murderer, for which he was executed in Salt Lake City (the capital of the Mormon state of Utah) in 1915. But the leftists turned him into a kind of righteous martyr, innocently convicted by an evil capitalist court. And this scoundrel openly called for the murders of people who were politically objectionable to him and composed a vile song about the strikebreaker Casey Jones, the locomotive engineer, whom the “real Joe Hill working people” of America killed by unscrewing the rail track. Joe Hill’s meanness cannot even be assessed, as Casey Jones was indeed a locomotive engineer and DIED HEROICALLY, saving the lives of hundreds of passengers on his train, which was about to collide with a freight train, but Casey Jones remained in the cabin, telling another driver to jump out of the cabin, braking the train before the collision!
And he paid with his life for saving many lives of passengers!
I put it out of my head with the Fifth Beethoven Piano Concerto, but it’s vile, it’s back again, and besides, “accompanied” by also not the best – “Horst Wessel” – the anthem of the NSDAP (Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei), the Nazi Party of Germany.
It sounded very similar!
This song, the words to which were written by Horst Wessel himself, a member of the Nazi Party, to the tune of an old song by German sailors, was elevated by Goebbels to the rank of an anthem, and Horst Wessel himself, who was killed in 1930, became a holy martyr (like Joe Hill).
He did not die from a bullet lodged in his head, and obviously did not damage his brain much, but from BLOOD POISONING, SEPSIS, postoperative, possibly.
(German doctors did not know in 1930 that sepsis could be easily cured by simply drinking silver water, colloidal silver, which I cured my Mother at home in 12 hours when she accidentally injured her left hand with a rusty nail in the kitchen drawer. And a few months ago, my good friend’s father, who was already dying of sepsis in the hospital, was cured in the same way, in a day. His wife knew that it was strictly forbidden to bring any medicines to the hospital from OUTSIDE! Then she poured silver water, made by their son, into a three-hundred-milliliter bottle of “MINERAL WATER” and, in front of strict doctors and nurses, gave drink the dying man this “mineral water”.
Within a day, the dying man recovered so much, to the great dumb surprise of the doctors, who confidently wrote him off as dead, that he was DISCHARGED from the hospital for outpatient care!!!)
The music for the Joe Hill song was written by the composer Earl Robinson in 1935, when this Nazi anthem was already victoriously bursting from all the speakers. And I got the impression, apparently justifiably, that Robinson, after listening to the broadcasts of the German radio, voluntarily or involuntarily put together, slightly arranging, the melody of “Horst Wessel” in “Joe Hill”. They are very similar in musical combinations (the first four leading, constant notes are almost identical, only the position of ONE NOTE has been changed)!
But the funniest thing happened later. In the Soviet Union, Paul Robeson, a “fighter for equality and a communist by conviction,” a generous patron of the Communist Party of the USA, was very much loved, and his songs were often played on All-Union radio, in particular, the song about Joe Hill and, no less often, his vile “Casey Jones.”
So, the slightly arranged “Horst Wessel Song”, the Nazi Anthem, was played loudly throughout the Soviet Union under the slightly modified name “Songs on Joe Hill”.
And wherever they looked (WITH their EARS!!!) brave and super-vigilant Soviet Musical Censorship Officers???!!!
