It’s already on sale. The cost of one refrigerator is approximately $10,000.
Against the background of record heat waves in Japan, an unusual device for rapid cooling of the body has been developed – a personal cooling cabin, called the Do Hiemon Box. According to the developers, in just 10 minutes it helps to significantly reduce the heat load on the body. The new product is intended primarily for employees of construction sites, factories, warehouses and other enterprises where people work for a long time at extremely high temperatures.
When the air temperature exceeds 40 degrees, the solution, which until recently might have seemed fantastic, has already become a commercial product.
The Do Hiemon Box is an individual cooling cabin with a height of just over two meters, designed for one person. The user goes inside, sits down and closes the door, after which the system directs an air flow with a temperature of about 5 degrees Celsius to the head, neck, shoulders and back, while the temperature inside the cabin itself is maintained at about 15 degrees.
According to the developer, after just five minutes, a person feels a noticeable decrease in body temperature, and staying in the cabin for about ten minutes helps effectively remove overheating and reduce the effects of heat stress.
The developer of the device was the Japanese company SDRS, specializing in cooling systems and automated equipment. The novelty is being sold by industrial equipment supplier Trusco Nakayama.
The cabin is comparable in size to a vending machine for drinks. It is equipped with wheels, which makes it easy to move and does not require special installation. In addition, the device consumes about half as much electricity as a mobile air conditioner for a similar purpose.
To prevent hypothermia, the system automatically shuts down after 20 minutes of operation.
The main users of the device should be employees of construction sites, warehouses, manufacturing plants and other workplaces where people are exposed to high temperatures for a long time.
One of the first cabins has already been handed over to the city of Maebashi, where anyone can use it for free during business hours.
The appearance of the new device coincided with one of the hottest summers in Japanese history. In recent days, temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius have been recorded in the country for the first time this year, and the number of cases of heat stroke continues to grow.
The cost of one refrigerator is about 1.5 million yen (about 10 thousand dollars). Despite the high price, the manufacturer believes that this investment may be justified for employers, as it can preserve the health and even save the lives of employees in the face of increasingly frequent extreme heat waves.

They took an ordinary refrigerator, reduced the power of the compressor, put a chair inside, that’s all a “fantastic invention”! Poor, a stupid and deceitful “idea”. Not only construction workers suffer from heat, but any people, especially the elderly (excessive heat stress on the heart, exceeding the compensatory capabilities of a weak body, easily kills!)
So it’s just that pedestrians who have to be on the street, old and young, should become dray horses and drag this cart behind them, because no municipality can put hundreds of thousands of booths on all the streets of the city, Let alone rural areas!
