The mechanism by which cancer cells avoid death due to lack of oxygen
MSU scientists, together with foreign colleagues, have described the mechanism by which cancer cells avoid death. It turned out that the lack of oxygen disrupts the synthesis of proteins that normally kill the tumor. This discovery will help develop drugs that can “bypass” the survival system of malignant cells. The results of the study, supported by a grant from the Russian Science Foundation, are published in the journal Chemico-Biological Interactions.
The human body gets rid of cells whose DNA has accumulated too many random mutations through programmed cell death – apoptosis. This self-destruction process is triggered by special pro–apoptotic proteins from the Bcl-2 family, which form holes (pores) in the shell of mitochondria, the “energy stations” of the cell. This leads to the release of cytochrome c protein from the mitochondria into the cytoplasm through such pores. It forms a complex with other proteins, activating enzymes that directly kill the cell.
Apoptosis is interesting because it can be used to fight cancer cells if you force them to kill themselves. However, scientists have found that most tumors develop in conditions of hypoxia, that is, in places where little oxygen is supplied due to insufficient blood supply. Oxygen is necessary for cells for oxidative reactions and energy production in mitochondria, and if it is too little, these processes are disrupted. In addition, due to lack of oxygen, mitochondria become resistant to proteins that create pores in them, and hence to apoptosis. However, until now it was not clear which mechanism helps cancer cells to avoid self-destruction during hypoxia. Therefore, a research group from Moscow State University and colleagues from the Karolinska Institute (Stockholm) conducted a study to answer this question.
The end of the paragraph is a quote.
I have already written several times about the possibilities of sterilization and ozonation of air with the addition of my two-year-old thought about the possible therapeutic effect of moderate (non-toxic and non-dangerous) doses of ozone.
I will briefly repeat the essence of the idea that came to my mind then.
First, ozone is 3,500 times more active in its bactericidal and virucidal properties than chlorine. And much safer.
Secondly, a person begins to smell ozone at concentrations of one billionth of ozone in a certain volume of air. Dangerous to health with prolonged inhalation, the concentration begins at one millionth, that is, at concentrations a thousand times higher than the threshold of smell.
Third, Ozone is ten times more soluble in water than regular oxygen.
Oxygen is 4.9 volumes in one hundred volumes of water.
Ozone is 49 volumes in one hundred volumes of water.
Fourth, Blood plasma is nothing more than slightly salted water, therefore, it is also obviously possible to extend the good solubility of ozone in it.
And, since ozone is a strong bactericidal agent, when inhaled, it not only disinfects the trachea, bronchi and lungs, but also DISSOLVES IN THE BLOOD, DISINFECTING IT!
Fifth: Since ozone dissolves in chromium, then, despite its rather rapid decomposition and transformation into ordinary oxygen, some of the ozone can still get inside cells, both healthy and infected with the virus, and therefore ozone can kill viruses inside cells!
Sixth: And one last thing. If cancer cells “do not like xylene,” then the increased ozone content in the blood is nothing more than an increased oxygen content in it, and this can activate the suicide process of cancer cells. This is the last idea that came to mind a couple of weeks ago.
I think it’s worth checking it out.
I have already described how to make a home sterilizer ozonizer more than once in my notes on this topic. I’ve been using this simple DIY since March 2020.
Also notes about ozone!
