Forced citation of the beginning of the note “I had a dream the other day about the late Karl Runge…”
The 1925 Nobel Prize winner in physics, James Frank, once told: “The other day I had a dream about the late Karl Runge, and I asked him, ‘Well, how are you in the other world? Perhaps all the laws of physics are already known?”
And he says to me:
“Here they give you the right to choose: You can either know EVERYTHING or the same as on Earth.
I chose the latter, otherwise it would be very boring…”
Karl Runge is a famous German mathematician and spectroscopic physicist.
So the author had a strange dream: I’m standing on the ground and I see a young man standing on a disk about a meter in diameter, flying hundreds of meters above the ground at a fairly high speed. My first thought is, why is he not bending slightly forward? After all, at this speed, it should be blown by a strong stream of air?
I didn’t have time to think about this thought in my dream, as the young man turned over and flew on the disk, hanging on it, upside down. Then I immediately realized that it wasn’t just standing on the disk, but somehow attached to it.
The young man turned over again and flew further again “standing on” the disk.
Suddenly, to my surprise, some lattice structures began to protrude from the disk and it began to turn into something INCOMPREHENSIBLE…
And suddenly a thought struck me:
How advanced technology makes ANY DREAMS come TRUE AND BY THAT – KILLS THEM!
I woke up with that thought.
And already in reality continued: But there is something in this thought in a dream!
Perhaps God’s existence is incredibly boring and monotonous because of THIS, because he “KNOWS EVERYTHING!”
He has nothing to think about, and therefore, in order to occupy himself somehow, he invented “life” in order to perform all sorts of cruel experiments on living beings…
JUST OUT OF BOREDOM…
In order to have some fun…
For HIM, it’s innocent entertainment.
For decillions of living beings, there are continuous hellish torments of suffering and death.
But what does he care about them? He can create them innumerably, and therefore the torments of one, thousands, billions, quadrillions of suffering living beings are just a variety of entertainment for him, somehow diversifying the total boredom of omniscient divine existence…
Omniscience makes our existence too somehow drearily boring. After all, the most interesting thing is not to “KNOW EVERYTHING”, but to “HIT UPON THE IDEAS OF EVERYTHING.”
And when you don’t have to think of the unknown and incomprehensible, because you already KNOW “what’s what”, you feel a terrible longing from the oppressive thoughtlessness imposed by omniscience…
In general, I also choose like Karl Runge…
Otherwise, it would be very boring both in this world and in the next…
