* Meaning – fake cheap imitation of gold.
I have to repeat my little note from four and a half years ago.
It compares two beautiful melodic patterns:
NichyakamisyachnaorRomance de Amour?
*Boris Romanovich Gmyrya, Talented Ukrainian singer, bass.
During the Great Patriotic War, he remained under the German occupation regime and continued to sing at the Kiev Opera and Ballet Theater. He was even taken to Berlin, where he performed Wolfram’s aria in Wagner’s opera Tannhauser! Then, together with the retreating German troops, he sang in Kamenets-Podolsk, first for the Germans, and then again for the Soviet people.
And, lo and behold, he was not “convicted” of anything and was not repressed, but continued to sing.
Even in 1952 he was awarded the Stalin Prize!!!
This was at a time when Soviet patriots who had been in Nazi concentration camps and raised uprisings there (Sobibor), after being “liberated” by the Soviet Army, immediately went “for treason” to Soviet concentration camps, where their “relatives and fellow citizens” finished them off!
And Gmyrya received the Stalin Prize for “cooperation with the Nazi occupiers (from 1941 to 1944)”!!!
A new supplement to the «centurally” journal “Successes of Etymology”.
Dear readers, long-sufferers and long-livers!
At the last plenary meeting of the full staff of our editorial board, the editors of the journal, Wordsmith G.R. (50 years old), Werbary A.I. (25 years old) and Werboword U.S. (5 years old) a fundamental question was asked:
Aren’t there the same etymological mysteries in music as in language? After all, there are many works there that require a serious etymological study of their roots and origin.
At first, this question plunged the editorial board into a complete mental stupor and painful silence, but after some half an hour, realizing the deep meaning of this question, the staff, as one, burst into stormy applause, turning into an ovation.
Yes, indeed, there are also many mysterious motifs in music, the origin of which is hidden in the “eons of eternal darkness”.
“Then in a moment I would say:
Wait a minute! You’re great!
And my earthly trace would not have been lost
In the eons of eternal darkness.
“Faust” by J.W.Goethe
From now on, dear readers and listeners, we are opening the music application of our magazine. Any reader can contact us with any question related to musical and etymological riddles.
The editorial staff solemnly undertakes to provide an answer TO ANY QUESTION within NO MORE THAN 99 years from the date of its presentation to us!
No sooner had this joyful news spread around the cities and towns of our vast homeland, than the editorial office immediately received a question from a certain Esprit de L’Escalier:
“Is it not by chance that the Latin American piece, usually performed on guitar, “Romance de Amour” and the Ukrainian song “Nich yaka misyachna” (How Moon is shining at this night!) have strong musical similarities?”
(This Esprit de…, is a personality widely known in a very narrow circle of lovers of fine literature, as a pupil with the lowest grades in his record who graduated from no one knows what and when, possessing MICROSCOPIC abilities with MEGALITHIC claims (“MICROMEGAS”, in a word), considers himself a brilliant etymologist, due to complete ignorance in this science, which, however, extends, and all other sciences).
But the editorial board, following the principle of full equality of sexes, races, nationalities and educational qualifications, nevertheless considers it its sacred duty to answer ANY correctly asked questions.
So, the answer is:
No! IT’S NO COINCIDENCE!
In a recent study on the origin of the name of the Latin American country of Honduras and its capital, Te Gusi Galpa (see the Appendix to the “centurally” journal “Successes of Etymology” No. 102, 13 VIII 2021), we pointed out that it was immigrants from Ukraine, most of them bandurists, who founded this state of Banduras, later renamed Honduras by them..
They also gave the name to his capital.
So, not being endowed with vocal abilities or at least with a “voice not devoid of pleasantness,” Ukrainian bandurists, nevertheless, often played the motif of this beautiful and touching song on their banduras.
AND WHAT IS A GUITAR? This is some kind of degenerate little-stringed child of a bandura!!!
“Bandurmiscar” is the miscarriage of Bandura’s mother.
You can even say: The victim of an abortion!
The number of strings on a bandura ranges from seven to twenty and more!!!
And the guitar?
………………
That’s it!
Latin Americans who lived in good neighborhood with these bandurists, of course, have heard this tune many times, and they liked it. After arranging it a bit and adapting it only for guitars, they called it “Romance de amor” and released it as a guitar piece!
The editors hope that they have given this Esprit de… a convincing answer, even for him!
Once again, our dear readers and admirers, send us your questions, as well as your musical and etymological clues.
It won’t be 99 years before you get an answer to your question!
No less exhaustive!
But, most importantly, not to the END of your life!
IF POSSIBLE,..

And today, on June 7, 2026, I tried to remember the Adagio from Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 23 (K.488).
I remembered the opening part of the piano, but the extraordinarily beautiful orchestral continuation – well, no way.
Instead, these two melodies of a Ukrainian song and a romance kept coming into my head all the time!
Finally, after suffering for half an hour, I REMEMBERED (Thanks to my Superconsciousness, it prompted me, dear!). And at that moment, a strange thought struck me – a comparison. The melodic pattern of the concerto is also somewhat similar to the previous two, but despite they are undoubtedly beautiful and melodic, suddenly they sounded somehow “CHEAP” in my mind, too blunt, all the feelings are on display like mannequins in the window of an underwear store …
And Mozart is beautiful, subtle, graceful and animated, just divinely!
Mozart, 23 Concerto, Adagio, K. 488
And the two previous melodies seemed to me to be “SAMOVAR GOLD”, compared to the true gold, pure without impurities, 24 carats!
I do not want to offend anyone by reproaching them for their lack of taste or anything else, and I am only conveying my personal, purely subjective perception of these musical works.
