Once I was sitting in an office and discussing topics of interest with its boss. A woman came into the room, his colleague who worked in the next room, with some question to him, and I involuntarily, REFLEXIVELY immediately stood up, offering her a seat (there was no other chair in the office).
She appreciated my BASIC politeness.
And the boss later told me with a sarcastic grin that I was acting like a “nutcase”!
