I noticed two types of memory failure:
One very common one, which can be called a “Bad library catalog” and is experienced by almost all people of any age.
You know a word, or a concept, or a name, or a title, but you can’t “reach” it in an attempt to remember it. That is, like in a bad catalog: The book appears in it, but neither the library room nor the shelf where this book is, is indicated. And searching a large library at random is a long time’s work!
The second one is less common: Usually in some specific kind of memory, for example, musical or also conceptual. It happens to me, infrequently, but with repetitions.
Michaela’s aria from the opera “Carmen” by Georges Bizet is constantly HAMMERED with a completely different, similar melody!
I was tormented for a long time with the theme of the ball music in the Larins’ house (“Here, such a surprise, we never expected military music…” “Eugene Onegin” by P.I. Chaikosky): All the time another melody of the scene at the bazaar from Charles Gounod’s “Faust” crept into my head.
To this day, it’s similar: “The March of the Guards” from Giuseppe Verdi’s opera “Troubadour” is constantly clogged with a similar march of soldiers from the aforementioned opera by Gounod!
Here, the mechanism of the “forgetting” effect is completely different: The blockade of synaptic circuits leading to the desired topic by DIFFERENT, DOMINANT circuit!
The phenomenon is well-known and the “Psychological Law of Archimedes” is based on it:
Any unusual or unpleasant thought immersed in consciousness is pushed out of it with a force proportional to the “volume” of its strangeness or unpleasantness.
The dominants of habitual herd thinking block the “dissident” synaptic circuits of the connection of neurons tightly, and the mentioned thought is immediately thrown out of consciousness in disgust!
As can be seen from the text, the mechanisms of memory failure are completely different. Superconsciousness helps us in both cases:
Or he opens his doors a crack and connects the interrupted synapses with a “light hand wave”; then the necessary chain of neurons immediately appears and WE REMEMBER!!! Hurray!
This is the first type of communication loss.
In the second case, the Superconscious BLOCKS the DOMINANT, the “blocker,” and opens the interrupted connection.
We SUDDENLY REMEMBER again!!!
But usually people don’t understand that IT’s NECESSARY to THANK the Superconsciousness! He has a feedback connection with the Pleasure Center and he SHOULD receive a signal from this center!
But that’s not enough: He should also receive a signal of gratitude from the Consciousness itself, to which he has rendered a service by connecting the synapses that it, weak-willed and schoolboy, does not connect into a chain, or its active “The taming of the shrew”, blocking the arbitrary whim of the mental dominant!
Therefore, when the Superconsciousness intervenes and helps me, I ALWAYS turn to him with the most sincere gratitude, I say to him in my thoughts: THANK YOU, Superconsciousness!!!
You need to be able to get along with him and honestly reward him for his help both emotionally (through the Pleasure Center) and with the help of politeness, giving him mental gratitude.
